HISTORY: The Miami County Common Pleas Court – General Division established its own Probation Department in June, 2020 after obtaining grant money from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. For over 40 years, the Court had contracted with the state’s Adult Parole Authority to provide probation services. The Court recognized that certain changes in Ohio law provided an opportunity for the Court to establish its own department consistent with the philosophy of the judges and Miami County community standards. This change in structure/organization was unanimously endorsed and supported by our county partners. The Court’s probation department currently consists of a Chief Probation Officer, three field officers and support staff, whom supervise over 300 offenders on court-ordered supervision.
MISSION STATEMENT: The Miami County Common Pleas Court Probation Department is committed to the protection of community, providing services to the Court and offenders, justice for victims, reparation of the community, and accountability and personal development of offenders being punished for their criminal offense.
